GW7's December 2008 Artist of the Month Beyonce'

In our first year at GW7 Radio the ladies have it! They out shined the men and this one of the main reasons why. Beyonce' wife to the present and legendary Hip Hop Rhyme Champion, and former CEO of Def Jam Records Jay-Z.

Her latest role as R&B legend Etta James in the movie "Cadillac Records" tops a list of theatrical performances which have been more than memorable. Of the most remarkable of them all was the latest box office smash and remake of "Dreamgirls" where she co-starred with the current King of Comedy, Eddie Murphy. She's been awarded countless nominations and awards on her own, and as well in her group "Destiny’s Child". Since 1998 when three beautiful ladies (Beyonce', Kelly & Michelle) came on the scene with a touching album we all knew but yet did not know the fullness of what we were about to discover. Their album went 3 times platinum with hits such as "No, No, No" & "With Me". It was only the beginning. Destiny’s Child grew to be one of the most popular female groups of our life time.

After winning and becoming the first female artist ever to win the ASCAP Pop Music Award in 2001 for best Pop Song Writer of the year her solo career began to take flight. And in 2003 she emerged with a new album "Dangerously In Love" which sold over 6 Million copies. Not bad for a first time walk across the street with out her sisters.

She took the stars out of the sky and dressed them up with her new fashion line "House of Deréon" in 2005 and returned to the stage again with to record a new album called "Destiny’s Fulfilled" with Destiny’s Child in 2005. Their single "Check On It" stayed on the charts of Billboard as No.1 for 6 weeks. The list of achievements never stopped since then, and it just gets better for their fans. Kelly and Michelle also went on afterwards to record solo albums. Beyonce' in 2006 won 4 of each, Billboard, MTV and Grammy Awards.

She rings the alarm again with a timely album which not only through its sincere approach and openness tickles your ear with romance, but it so thought provoking that it helped Barrack Obama win the presidency. Encouraging a change of the spirit in people causes other effects which aren't related directly in the sight of the unlearned. Wanting something good for yourself has a contagious effect on other aspects of your life.

Of the most controversial tracks "If I were a Boy" off her new 08' double disk album "I am" & "Sashe Fierce" has literally caused men to re-think their approaches towards women by forcing them with a cup of ice cream to see how damaging it is be arrogant and ingrate towards a woman whom you say or act like you love! She also encourages women to demand respect, with her latest single release "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It". It has encouraged marriage in a world where hope has gone downward much in part due to the promotion of divorce in the media. Our sister has found a way to promote "Family" to a world wide audience and the women are going wild over the intelligence of Beyonce'. These songs have helped inspire a change in the attitudes towards women. I'm sure good men wouldn't mind if those who would like us to put a ring on it, would cover it up as well dear Beyonce'. No punt intended but no sound minded man of wants a wife who's doesn't secure herself in public. That is unless he rules with a hard hand, and feels that it's enough to keep her in line. Men can become suspicious and even violent at times so it's not safe for women or the potential relationship between man and wife for her to dress openly in the public. Women who dress respectfully ad peace and mind to their lives be assuring their potential husbands that they are doing everything in their power to protect what would be his most cherished possession. Through it all she harnesses such enlightening traits and desires which is evident after having made this statement with regards to her new album, "I knew that, artistically, I had to grow. Even though I've been very successful and very fortunate, I want to still be challenged and still be nervous and still be anxious about all the things that make my career exciting." This is Beyonce!

Congratulations Beyonce', you've done a fine job this round. You're our artist of the Month in what is recognized as one of the most material months of the year. Let's stay focused and build on the values that make us better human beings and honor the good in each other. This will forge into fruition an eventual new world of decent and respectful men and women who will be honored!

GW7's November 2008 Artist of the Month Jennifer Hudson

Now this sister here has needs no introduction, and not because of the recent tragedy of which we are all aware. Jennifer Hudson has filled much of the void since the recent passing of our royal friend and R&B legend Luther Vandross. Jennifer has been compared to the royalty of Aretha Franklyn, the vocal controls of Chaka Khan, and now Jennifer stands as a mighty torchlight for all who forgot what real soul sounds like.

She took the stage from all her contestants with the ease of a Hawk over field mice in her triumph at the American Idol Awards Show. Jennifer took the "Spotlight" in the 2006 box office blaze Dreamgirls, which stared multi-platinum songstress Beyonce' who is also a massively talented songstress, Comedy King Eddie Murphy and a star studded cast. She with class won an Academy Award for her unforgettable role as “Effie".

Jennifer has won more than just that, she has won the hearts and support of millions of fans throughout the world and has taken her love for the music and stage into the homes of all of us who adore sincere works of art and high spirited performances of which Jennifer is a natural master.

Jennifer’s first professional role came at the ripe age of 19 through an off Broadway musical Big River when she was nineteen. In 2002 she performed regularly on a cruise ship for Disney and the rest is history. Jennifer has since then taken to the skies with honors from an NAACP Image Award, Soul Train “Entertainer of the Year”, that Oscar we just mentioned and the list goes into what could be an infinity. For who could forget a perfect voice coming from a heavenly soul such as our sister.

We salute you Jennifer for your continued pursuit of excellence and for your assisting in the global pursuit of a eventual peace which will engulf the entire world as we all hope to witness in this life time. And regardless to what ever you and we suffer we must always remember that there is no trial we experience greater than the merci of God who never puts on our souls more than can be burdened. Let us merge the lessens of our trials to the hearts and minds of our children, while engaged in righteous conversation amongst ourselves towards the benefit of us all.

GW7's October 2008 Artist of the Month Brandy

It’s been 4 years since a tragedy which took our Brandy from us but she’s back!!! The album “Human” released in November stands to bring a natural mirror to the millions of devoted fans of this desirable songstress.

Brandy is our October artist of the month, not simply because of the come back but our sister has a child and from the appearances you can tell that she has been on her job. Sy'ral is a wonderfully educated and outspoken young little one and carries the spirit of Brandy to the maximum. Blessed we are to have not one but two Brandys, and only the Lord knows what this new Brandy in Sy’ral will have to share.

Brandy’s very well known for her duet with co-songstress Monica “The Boy is Mine”. She also has received numerous awards from Billboard Music’s Best New R&B Artist Award, to Best R&B Performance by Dou or Group Grammy Award.

Today she’s on the move with a new single “Right Here(Departed)” from her new album. This song Brandy says is all about the family who stick by you even when their not around. Returning also to the scene, producer Rodney Jerkins who worked with Brandy on 2 other albums. He brings the spirit of Brandy through with the touch of a true family member. Their chemistry is genuine. Rodney appears in the new video which was directed by Lil X in California. It’s his first time working with Brandy, and it was no gamble. The talent is evident, as record sales are souring since the drop.

"Human is my most personal album to date," said Brandy. "I have grown so much since my last album. Being able to express myself and my journey through my music is a feeling I can't describe."

Can you remember "Have You Ever" and "Baby" and of coarse who could forget, "I wanna be Down"!

We can’t deny that Brandy has touched us with a futuristic groove proving that she’s way ahead of her time, a visionary and a princess of the game. Trials will fortify her position as one of the most uniquely centered and gifted women in show biz. A mother and not just to her daughter Sy'ral, but Brandy through her positive reflection of obviously good upbringing is a mother to all young girls out there. We salute you Brandy for being there for us, and sharing your soul’s treasures with us. She’s proven that tragedy doesn’t mean that you’re worthless its only a trial, and that if you break through the pain you will be better than ever before!

GW7's September 2008 Artist of the Month Bernie Mac

Now of coarse this brother is deserving of more than just artist of the month!!! We just thought we'd honor him in this way as a sign to let you all know that our real heroes are not dead. Their works have supported the continued rise of the righteous, and if they were truly dead than we would surly drop into the abyss of our oppressors deepest fantasy because lately we have been witnessing the departures of so very many of our greatest entertainment professionals. In our souls and memories live our heroes. From Richard Pryor, James Brown, DMC, Luther Vandross, to Barry White, just to name a few; we've surely lost many of the founders from Comedy to R&B. It's automatic; being thankful for all that they imparted in wisdom to us by the grace and permission of Allah (God).

On October 5, 1957 Chi-Town born, Bernard Jeffrey McCullough emerged into the lives of his family by the grace of Allah (God). One wonders if there were signs back then during his youth of his glorious destiny.

Bernie Mac filled the Bill Cosby spot for like our elder brother he through his "Bernie Mac Show" which aired for 5 years (2001-2006) fathered the children of lesser opportunities. He also can take credit for teaching many Fathers how on how to be real Daddy's.

He also won BET's "Best Lead Actor" award in 2005. He started his career in High School during the 70's as a talent show producer. And as an adult worked hard even as a postal worker!

Bernie took to the big screen in 1995 as a pastor in ICE CUBE's infamous movie FRIDAYS. But even before he took to this epic, he's stood firm as a STAR in the hearts of all!

From stand up comedy to the heart of the streets of all who enjoyed his smile and graceful words of inspiration Bernie Mac takes the "Father Award", as a gift from all of us! Okay he did win a few Emmy's,Golden Globe, NAACP and other grand awards as well but none beats the "Peoples Award" we at GW7 Radio are proud to call "The Fathers Award"..

Bernie Mac's family includes his wife since 1977 Rhonda their daughter De' Niece and also a grand daughter.

Our brother Bernie in 1983 was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis (a immune system disorder) and was recently hospitalized and then died on August 1st from complications as a result of Pneumonia.

Bernie Mac is our Artist of the Month of September 08'. And remember "WE BABE'S CHILDREN, WE DON'T DIE WE MULTIPLY"!
